The Sherman Library
Code of Conduct Policy
The Sherman Library Board and Staff strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all library users. Patrons have a right to expect friendly and competent library service provided in a calm, safe environment. Library users of all ages are expected to abide by these guidelines.
- Conversation and activity should be kept at a level that will not disturb others.
- Loud talking, profanity, running, jumping, throwing things and behavior that deliberately annoys others or prevents the legitimate use of the library and its resources are not allowed.
- Loitering in and around the library is not permitted
- Disruptive or frequent entering and exiting the library is not permitted
- Cell phones and audio devices should be used at a level not disruptive to others.
- People are expected to treat library materials and property with care.
- Eating and drinking are permitted only during library programs and events
- No personal items may be left unattended.
- The library is not responsible for personal belongings.
- The Library telephone is mainly for library business use. However, if necessary it may be used briefly by library patrons for local calls.
- Animals, except for service animals, are not permitted in the library or unattended on library premises.
- Dangerous play, such as skateboarding, bicycling or rollerblading in the library parking lot is not permitted.
- Library computers must be used in accordance with the library Internet Use Policy.
