Mahjong Club

Every Tuesday of the month
9:30 a.m.


Join us at the Sherman Library for Mahjong Club. This extremely popular game originated in China and is a game of luck and skill.

The group meets weekly on Tuesdays and is for adults. If you are new to mahjong please contact the library in advance to sign-up. Coffee and tea are served.

Relaxation with Yoga Nidra

1st Friday of the month

February 1st- November 1st

Yoga 7 - 8:30p.m. followed by refreshments

 

You are cordially invited to join Sherman resident Mariya Hurwitz for an evening of gentle yoga and guided relaxation followed by a friendly social gathering.

 

Our first Friday program offers a way to relax, unwind and spend time with other members of the community.

 

Classes are free, open to all adults and no experience or special clothing is required. Bring a mat or blanket and dress comfortably.

 


 

Knitting & Needle Arts Creativity
2nd Tuesday of the month
February 12th - December 10th

7 - 9 p.m.

 

Please join Elly Bockley and Amanda Ruane at the Sherman Library for an evening of needle arts—knitting, crochet, needlepoint, rug hooking, quilting, etc.

 

At our informal gathering knit, learn to knit, swap patterns or advice and generally have a sociable time. All skill levels are welcomed from beginner to expert. Refreshments are served.

Writers' Group
2nd Thursday of the month

Looking for feedback? Need help curing your writer's block or tapping into your creativity? Want to sharpen your skills and test your ideas through peer review and constructive critique?

Join this small group of creative writers and share your works in progress, resources, issues, ideas, and expertise. Experiment with writing new works, exploring different genres, and discussing literature while using literary devices, writing prompts and other exercises to stimulate your muse.

Adult Book Discussion

3rd Friday of the month

Every month or so the Sherman Library hosts a book discussion on the third Friday evening. Everyone is welcome to join, lead, or suggest a book to talk about. It’s fun, casual and informative.

People stick to the topic. They feel comfortable to express themselves and speak their minds. The discussions are led by volunteers and the participants change from book to book.

 

The library orders multiple copies for the book discussion and delicious refreshments are served. Become part of a special evening.

Song Swap at the Sherman Library

4th Friday of the month

Come with a song you know and leave with one you don’t.” That’s the motto of cohosts Al Burgasser and Nancy Walsh.

 

It’s unplugged jamming for people who enjoy playing and listening to acoustic music. Grab your instrument and voice and join friends and neighbors for traditional and contemporary folksongs, bluegrass, blues, swing and all acoustic styles. All levels of performers are welcomed from beginner to professional. Or just stop by to relax and enjoy musical talent that thrives in our community. Refreshments are served.
