The Sherman Library Women's Soiree

Held Friday evening of Memorial Day Weekend, the Soiree is an all-too-rare opportunity for women of all ages to kick off a fabulous summer season in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. A champagne and wine bar as well as a generous buffet of sweets and savories will be offered, and the very popular silent auction and sale will return with an expanded selection of merchandise.

The Soiree attracts over 100 women, who purchase hundreds of items, win door prizes and raffles, and, most importantly, enjoy the company of their friends and neighbors. The women of Sherman and surrounding towns have made the Soiree into one of the library’s most important fundraisers.

The Sherman Library Annual Meeting

The annual meeting is held close to the anniversary date of the first meeting of the Delvers, the women’s literary club, and precursor of our library. The Delvers initially met October 5th, 1901. Our annual meeting begins at 6:30 with refreshments, followed by library business and a guest speaker.

Past speakers have included Marlene Sanders-Emmy Award winning groundbreaking news executive, Joe Famularo-best selling cook book author, Ellen Burnett-publisher and editor of the Citizen News, David and Janet Hopkins-former publishers of the Sherman Sentinel, Victor Costa-fashion designer, Rob Cowley-author, editor and historian, Howar Schat-internationally known, critically acclaimed photographer, Robert McKee-Fulbright scholar, award-winning author, and many more.

The Sherman Library Annual Holiday Party
On the first Saturday in December the Sherman Library hosts its Annual Holiday Party. This event brings people in our community together to celebrate the library and the season in an elegantly decorated setting.

We rely heavily on community support to keep the Sherman Library operating and this party is one of the library’s principal fundraising events.

For more information about purchasing tickets please call or email the library.
