Assistant to the Executive Director

The Sherman Library is seeking a self-motivated, responsible, community minded person to join our team as Assistant to the Executive Director. This position supports the Library’s efforts in areas of fundraising, membership, adult programming, promotions, communications, and patron relations. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, flexible, enjoys working with the public, possesses excellent communication and organizational skills, and demonstrates the ability to prioritize and work both independently and with a team. The primary responsibilities are assisting the Executive Director with membership and donation management, report generation, fundraising and event coordination, and the planning, introduction and implementation of adult programming. Additional responsibilities include assisting with advertising, social media and patron relations. The job will entail 24 hours per week with some evening and/or weekend programs/events.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent.  One year of demonstrated experience marketing, planning and presenting public activities in a library, educational, or non-profit setting. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field is preferred.

Required Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent.  At least one year of demonstrated experience planning and presenting public activities and events.

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field.  At least one year programming and/or marketing experience in library, educational, or non-profit setting. Donor management system experience a plus.

The Sherman Library is an Association library, located in the historic center of Sherman. CT, a beautiful New England town with all the attributes that people cherish in small town living.
