Art Exhibitions

Every few months the Sherman Library, as part of our effort to promote cultural enrichment, features the works of a selected local artist. Over the course of a year, many different types of art can be seen such as traditional, abstract, watercolors, oils, pastels, as well as photography. Not only is the artwork enjoyed by library visitors…it’s for sale. In fact, a percentage of any sale is donated by the artist to the Sherman Library.

If you are interested in showing your art at the Sherman Library please contact us at SLPrograms@biblio.org

“Great Hollow Art Show Invitational 2025”

Art Show August 29th - October 8th, 2025

The Sherman Library is pleased to announce a group show featuring the artists from the eighth Annual Great Hollow Juried Painting and Photography Show 2025.  The winners, honorable mentions, and committee members have been invited to participate and share their love of nature celebrating the Great Hollow Nature Preserve through their depictions of wildlife and the beauty of the seasons.

The featured artists, using their paint brushes or cameras, have captured the beauty of the seasons, the rural landscape, the tenderness of mama bears, the song of a bird, the joy of gardens and more.  They remind us of the many faces of nature and how it offers us joy and beauty to nourish and replenish our souls.

The Sherman Library show will showcase these selected painters and photographers:  Bethe Bogues, Christy Bonaiuto, John Charles, Phyllis Chadwick, John Clery, Carolyn Cohen, Karen Golden, Linda Hubbard, Jeff Ginsburg, Dave King, Ely Knowles, Susan Locke, Mary Jane Magoon, Christina Maschke, Elizabeth Medeiros, Suzi Mitchell, Doreen O’Connor, Masumi O’Donnell, Deborah Rose, Gary Stanford, Don Turner, and Stephanie Wozniak

The artists’ reception will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 6 - 8pm. The show will be on display at the Sherman Library from August 29 through October 8, 2025.
